* I started to put on weight through lack of exercise and too much of the good life. Work can take me away a lot and eating out doesn't seem to help.
I knew about weight loss companies such as slimming world and weight watchers but felt they were too targeted towards women. SML Diet on the other hand is simple to follow for me as I don't need to attend meetings, don't need to count points. I simply make up my shake or grab a bar and off I go. It was easy for me as i had a bar at work and had 2 foodpacks together when I got in at night. The snacks really helped me stay on track too.
For me, I needed to treat being on a VLCD plan as the norm. I didn't really care about which flavour I had just as long as I had it. The weight loss was great and motivating and in total I lost 2 stone. Taking me from 12'7 stone down to 10'7 stone.
I know the weight will go back on if I go back to eating takeaways 3-4 times per week so I have cut back and probably have a takeaway twice a month. My portion sizes are smaller - I don't need to have so many carbs on my plate. They really don't help me. I have had to make real lifestyle changes in order to manage my weight. I have stopped smoking, stopped drinking alcohol and now I go bike riding regularly as my exercise to help me maintain.
I still use SML Diet products - mainly for lunch as they are easy, convenient and do the job so lunch for me is a coffee and a meal replacement bar. Some nights if I get home late, I will have a meal pack such as the chilli con carne instead of having a full cooked meal. It seems to be really working for me as 3 years on i'm still maintaining.
